Fall Is In the Air

So two weekends ago, Justin and I decided to carve some pumpkins. I honestly don't remember ever carving a pumpkin when I was a child. It was a lot of fun. We scraped out the insides and carved our own designs. I then took the pumpkin seeds and cleaned them up to use for a project for my two year olds. We also made pumpkin pie. The house smelled delicious and I burned some of my fall scented candles which made the house so warm and inviting. It is definitely my favorite time of year. The leaves are turning gorgeous colors, bright oranges, reds and yellows; the weather is cool and crisp; and there is even a fallish scent in the air. I love it! I know that the holidays will be here before I know it. And I'm excited! I can't wait for Thanksgiving, and remembering all I'm thankful for, and am looking forward to going to see my family at Christmas time. This time of year just makes me happy. I was also thinking today about some things from my past, things that I have been holding onto, things that people have done to me that I have not let go. It really has been baggage, and today I wrote one of those people an email telling them that I forgive them for what they did. It was a weight off my shoulders. It feels good to get it off my shoulders. While some things I will never forget, I also know that holding onto them will just make me miserable. It's hard to believe that November is almost here, but I am looking forward to the rest of this year. It will be our first Christmas being married!

Job update

So I started my new job last week. A full-time position in a two-year-old classroom at a daycare called Kidz World Academy. I was sad to leave my former daycare, Kidz Kastle, where I had the best boss I will ever have, but I am excited for this opportunity.
This class is nothing like I have ever done. It it the potty training class, mixed in with some simple curriculum. The first few days in there were kinda tough. Getting to know the kids, getting to know their personalities and their sleep schedule. They really weren't listening the first two days, but today, it was better and I think as they get to know me, it will get better. I am trying to figure out how to really teach them, as two year olds. Like what is at their level, what is too hard. This is something that I think I will just have to figure out as time goes by. I really hope that I can give these kids a stable environment to learn as they have had a lot of teachers come and go. It was tough the first two days also cuz I was getting a cold and was just exhausted, all congested and having to constantly blow my nose. But today my energy level was up and it went pretty well.
I just hope that I can be a good teacher and really help these kids not just to be potty trained but to learn some things as well.
Justin had his interview on Friday and it went alright. He hasn't heard back yet as they have to do a background check and such. I'm not super thrilled about it though, because even though he would be home, he would either get 2nd or 3rd shift and rarely have weekends off, plus it would be a huge paycut. The good things would be he would get lots of holidays, and wouldn't necessarily get the holiday off but would get a day off for it. There are also lots of opportunities for advancement after being there a year. I'm not sure what I really want at this point, but I guess we will see what happens.

Job situation

So there have been some trials in the job department as of late. I have been kind of looking for a full time job since I've moved to Tennessee last April. Well, I started Kidz Kastle in May of last year. I worked through the summer full time while the kids were out of school. Once school started I decided I needed to find another part time job because the school hours at the daycare were not going to be enough. So I started working at Cracker Barrel as a cashier. I worked both jobs until about two weeks after the wedding where I put in my notice at Cracker Barrel after getting a job offer at Huntington Learning Center. I really enjoyed working at Huntington and felt it was great experience for teaching. Well, out of the blue last week, my boss had emailed me asking me to call her. I called her and she informed me that unfortunatly they had to let me go because I didn't have a degree. She said she was really fighting for me but the bored just wouldn't have it. She also said that if I was looking for some part time work next summer to give her a call and that she would give me a great reference if I needed it. So they hired me without a degree and fired me because I didn't have one, but at the same time say that I can come back and work part time next summer? Doesn't quite add up. Anyways, that put me on a search to find another job, since, with school starting my hours are getting cut to about 17 hours. So I went and picked up the Tennesean and saw an add for a full time job at a daycare. I went to pick up an application and filled it out. I called them Wednesday and set up an interview for Thursday. The interview was easy and went very well. The director called me today telling me I needed to pick up a form to fill out and take to get fingerprinted. When I picked it up I asked if that meant I got the job. She said there were two part time openings and one full time opening and that three people were sent to get themselves fingerprinted. I'm hoping and praying that I get this job but only time will tell. I will keep you posted.

About us

Well, if you are reading this blog you probably know me, I'm Ami Hearing, formerly Ami Gates. This past May I got married to a wonderful man named Justin. He is a great man, a hard worker, and I love him very much. We also have a dog named Molly, and she really is my baby. We got her last November making her about 11 months old. Molly is such a sweet dog, she just wants to make poeple happy. She loves to play and she loves to snuggle as well. I work at a daycare called Kidz Kastle which I absolutely love. I love my boss, Peggy, she is the best boss I have ever had and I love working for her. Justin installs fire sprinklers for a company called International Fire Protection. He has been working in Alabama for way to long-since November, and comes home Thursday night through super early Monday morning. I hate him being gone so much. I miss him and get lonely. Good thing Molly is here to keep me company. We live in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in Gallatin, TN. In this blog I am going to share the happy moments as well as the tough moments. It is going to be a window into the lives of mostly me, but also of our family. I'm excited to get my thoughts out on "paper".
